FLOWER INSTALLATION CALHETA

This temporary flower installation makes part of the Madeira Flower Festival and will stay for 2 weeks. We `covered` the garden with 1700 locally produced protea flowers that were kept upright in small cane tubes, as a reference to the flowering fields that spontaneously color the countryside this time of year. The protea is a flower that is very strong and will stay beautiful, even after drying out.

Part of the installation is a green `muro de esperança`. We reintroduced a local traditional, where children place a flower in this `wall`as a sign of solidarity and environmental awareness.
